Welcome to our interactive and user-friendly ways to explore building, development, and public notice projects in Kitsap County. Whether you're a curious resident, a land use advocate, a potential new resident, or a business owner looking to understand growth opportunities in the County, this page has something for you. There are two maps to explore: Project Navigator and Permit Explorer. In addition, we offer resources on this page to help you understand the development process for extensive construction projects in the county.


PROJECT NAVIGATOR

The map includes projects with high community interest and projects requiring public notice. Some permits will have no related public action.* The Project Navigator map excludes smaller projects without public notification requirements, like single-family homes, additions, remodels, fire operational permits, use permits without construction, or minor commercial tenant improvements. Please see our Permit Explorer map below to explore permits outside the scope of the Project Navigator Map.

PERMIT EXPLORER

The Permit Explorer Map will provide an overview of all projects, regardless of size or community relevance. This map is divided into two maps. One includes building permits, and the other contains land use activities such as timber harvest and Site Development Activity Permits (SDAP). For example, if you are interested in knowing about tree removal happening in your neighborhood, you will likely find that information here in the SDAP section of permits.

Public Process Resources

Community Development is charged with ensuring adherence to the Kitsap County Code while following the Kitsap County Comprehensive Plan; we are responsible for reviewing and issuing permits. Our department is equally concerned with balancing public interests with permit issuance, as we work to ensure residents are informed and provided an opportunity to be engaged in these processes.  


Understanding the Public Process in Development

Explore this area to understand the process undertaken for a project to reach construction status, including the public process on applicable projects. Some projects on the Project Navigator and Permit Explorer maps are subject to public comment and a hearing process*, while other projects on the map are permitted under the code and are not subject to the same process.
