Hosting an event? Borrow portable recycling and garbage bins for free!
The Borrow a Bin program makes recycling at community and personal events easy. We provide portable bins, signs, and bags to community organizations, groups, and individuals for free. Our bins are available on a first come, first served bases.
How it works

Identify your event needs.
Decide how many recycling and garbage bins you’ll need for your event. We have 11 recycling and 11 garbage bins available.

Fill out our
borrower's agreement and receive confirmation from us.
Our borrower’s agreement serves as a reservation request and an agreement that the bins will be returned. Once you submit the borrower’s agreement, you’ll receive a confirmation email from a staff member.

Pick up bins during scheduled business hours at the Kitsap County Public Works Annex.
Bins are available for pickup during the scheduled time at 8600 Imperial Way SW, Bremerton, WA 98312.
We recommend bringing a vehicle with large trunk space, such as a pickup truck. You must come prepared with a tarp, net, straps, or other tie downs.

Dispose of collected materials.
Borrowers are responsible for disposing of the materials collected. We recommend discussing disposal options with your event venue first if applicable.
Small amounts of garbage and recyclables can be placed in your curbside cart for regular curbside collection.
For large amounts, you can:
Contact your local hauler or a permitted solid waste hauler for a one time pickup.
Self-haul the materials to a local drop-off facility, fees apply for garbage. Reminder, Washington law requires all loads to be secured.
Remember to leave your recyclables loose and throw the provided plastic bag in the garbage.

Return clean bins, signs, and all extra bags within three business days of the event.

(RCW 70.93.093) requires recycling at official gatherings and sport facilities by vendors who sell beverages in single-use aluminum, glass, or plastic bottles or cans.
