Function and Purpose of the Parks Advisory Board
The Kitsap County Parks Advisory Board is made up of nine members, three each from the three County Commissioner Districts. The Board functions as an interface between the community and the County. The Board provides advice to the Commissioners and the Director of Parks concerning the acquisition, development, and administration of parks and recreation facilities throughout the County. The Board also works on special projects as they are brought forward for consideration and is interested in participation from the public on park issues.
Established
The Kitsap County Parks Advisory Board was established December 13, 2004, with the purpose and function established through Chapter 2.24 and 10.12 of the Kitsap County Code, amended December 13th, 2004 by the Kitsap County Board of Commissioners.
Meetings
The Parks Advisory Board meets the third Wednesday of the month at 6 p.m. (except in December) at the Eagles Nest of the Kitsap County Fairgrounds, 1195 Fairgrounds Road, Bremerton. Meeting agendas and minutes are posted below. There is also a virtual option via Zoom. Meetings are open to the public and there are opportunities for public comment, which may also be conveyed directly to Parks staff at 360-337-5350 or
parks@kitsap.gov.

Public commenting at Parks Advisory Board meetings
Members of the public wishing to comment during designated public comment periods may do so through the following options. Each member of the public is limited to three minutes of Internet, call-in, or written comments. At the discretion of the Chair, a public comment that is overly repetitive or inappropriate (vulgar, disruptive, etc.) will be ended.
Internet Users
Please click on the raise hand feature in Zoom. The sound will be unmuted, and the Internet participant should announce their name. The participant will be called upon to speak at the designated time.
Call-In Users
Callers will be unmuted one at a time and asked whether the caller wishes to offer public comment. The last four digits of the call-in number will be announced, and call-in participants should announce their first and last name before speaking.
Written Comments
Written comments will be read during the public comment period if submitted to
parksboard@kitsap.gov by 5 p.m. on the day of the meeting. Comments read are limited to three minutes. To ensure written public comments are read at the proper meeting, a written statement should include: the date of the meeting the written comments are intended for; participant's first and last name and whether they live in Kitsap County; and agenda item and/or subject the written comments refer to.
