AFFORDABLE HOUSING REPORT
Kitsap County is pleased to announce the release of the City of Bremerton & Kitsap County Affordable Housing Recommendations Report, March 2020, prepared by ECONorthwest. In response to the affordable housing challenges facing many Kitsap County residents, the County and City of Bremerton partnered to have a study completed to better understand housing affordability issues. The report includes key findings and recommendations to encourage and support the development of more housing to meet residents’ needs. To view the report and appendices click on the links below.

WHAT IS AFFORDABLE HOUSING?
Washington State Department of Commerce offers a reference for local governments which provides an overview about what affordable housing is, where affordability is a problem, policy frameworks, planning, fund/finance options, and preservation.

An annual update from the Affordable Housing Advisory Board on affordable housing needs, accomplishments and recommendations to improve access to safe and affordable housing for all Washington residents.
KITSAP HOMELESS CRISIS RESPONSE AND HOUSING PLAN
Kitsap County's Homeless Crisis Response and Housing Plan provides background data on homelessness, reports on progress to date, and outlines the goals, strategies and action steps to be implemented over the next five years to make homelessness rare, brief, and one-time. The Kitsap County Homeless Housing Plan was last updated for 2018 and was approved by the Kitsap County Board of Commissioners.
A SPECIAL SHORT COURSE ON AFFORDABLE HOUSING
The Washington State Department of Commerce provides an overview on the housing crisis, legal aspects of affordable housing, tools to promote affordability, and local government examples.
OPPORTUNITY STARTS AT HOME POLICY AGENDA
The OSAH steering committee gives long-term, multi-sector goals and strategies to ensure that the most vulnerable low-income households can afford the rent, and the steps needed to make these goals possible.
