Countywide Treecycle Program Begins December 26th

PORT ORCHARD — The countywide Treecycle program begins December 26th and runs through January 15th at the locations listed below (except where noted.) Trees are accepted during regular business hours, except on New Year’s Eve when all drop-boxes close early.

Treecycling is a tradition for many Kitsap County residents. Last year, residents recycled 1,350 holiday trees into wood chips and mulch in a variety of landscape projects. County crews will drop off chips at accessible residences near their chipping locations while quantities last. To get on the “free chips” list, download the form at www.kitsapgov.com/sw/treecycle.htm or call The Open Line at 360-337-5777.

Residents are reminded to remove all nails, tinsel, lights, and ornaments before recycling their tree. Flocked trees cannot be accepted because they are potentially harmful to the environment.
