County Schedules Budget "Open House"
Learn about the 2013 budget at an Open House Wednesday in Port Orchard

(Port Orchard) - The Kitsap County Commissioners are holding an Open House this Wednesday (9/19) in the Commissioner’s Chambers at the Administration Building in Port Orchard, from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. “This “open house” period is the opportunity for members of the public to make comments and ask questions based on the information provided by the various elected officials and department directors over the last two weeks,” according to Board Chair Robert Gelder.

Over the past two weeks County departments presented funding requests for 2013 budget to the Budget Review Committee.  The committee included County Commissioners, citizen representatives from each Commissioner District, and a county employee offering the perspective of organized labor.

The presentations aired live on local community access television, and are available for review online at http://tinyurl.com/9olrtj4.  Other information related to the budget process is available through a link at www.kitsapgov.com. The departmental presentations were open to the public for attendance, but no public comment was accepted during the presentations. The Open House provides an opportunity for public comment related to the budget process.

The Board will deliberate and make preliminary budge decisions September 24-26 with final deliberations set for late October. The preliminary budget will be presented to the board November 12, and a public hearing is set for December 3. The final adoption of the 2013 budget is scheduled for the December 10, 2012 regular Board of County Commissioners meeting.
