Explore the beach at low tide with a WSU Kitsap Beach Watcher
(Bremerton, WA) - Join naturalists from the Kitsap Beach Watchers
program to marvel at marine life during low tide. Free summer beach
explorations will take place at Kitsap Memorial State Park, Scenic Beach
State Park, Lions Park, and several beaches on Bainbridge Island.
“The summer beach walks take place at low tide and reveal lots of creatures
who call the beach home, “ says Jeff Adams with Washington Sea Grant.
“People can touch sea stars, anemone, and other marine life – we normally
don’t see these creatures because they are under the tides. This is a fun
activity for families and people of all ages.”
“Beach explorers can learn about Kitsap’s local beaches and how to protect
them” says Peg Tillery, the Beach Watchers program educator with Washington
State University – Kitsap County Extension.
Volunteer Beach Naturalists will lead these explorations. To learn how you
can participate in volunteer stewardship programs, contact WSU Kitsap County
Extension at (360) 337-7157 and
