(Port Orchard) Work begins next week to forge a community-based solution to
traffic concerns in Hansville. "I am totally committed to helping the
Community create a solution that will meet the interests of those who
support the speed tables and those who do not," said Kitsap County
Commissioner Steve Bauer. At a well-attended meeting on the topic in April,
Bauer created a working group from volunteers interested in developing
solutions. The first meeting of the group is May 21st from 7 to 9 p.m. at
the Greater Hansville Area Community Center. The public is invited, but is
reminded that this a working meeting for the group, and not a time for
public testimony.
"I want to bring folks on both sides of the issue together to find a common
solution to the problem," said Bauer. To that end the County is bringing in
Molly Gordon and Hidda Van Duym, professional facilitators, to lead the
discussion. The facilitators will help the group develop a list of the major
traffic-safety concerns, and focus the discussion on speed tables. Through
this work the group will develop options best-suited for the identified
concerns.
