Kitsap County Joins National Commemoration of Crime
Victims’ Rights Week, April 23–29,
2006
PORT
ORCHARD, WA—During the week of April 23–29,
2006, crime victims/survivors and those who serve them will join together to
promote victims’ rights and services and to educate our communities about
the devastating impact of crime. This event will be recognized by the Kitsap
Board of County Commissioners at their regular meeting on April 24, 2006,
through passage of a resolution commemorating the occasion. This year’s
theme, “Victims’ Rights: Strength in Unity,” honors those crime victims and
victim service providers who have joined together to ensure that all victims
are aware of their rights and have access to the many services available to
them.
Passage of the resolution was requested jointly by Kitsap County Prosecutor
Russ Hauge, the YWCA, Mothers Against Drunk Drivers, the Kitsap Sexual
Assault Center, Harrison Hospital’s Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner program,
the Domestic Violence Task Force, Kitsap Special Assault Investigation and
Victim Services, Families and Friends of Violent Crime Victims, the Kitsap
County Sheriff’s Office, the Port Orchard Police Department, the Bremerton
Police Department, the Bainbridge Island Police Department, the Washington
State Patrol, the Poulsbo Police Department, and the Suquamish Police
Department.
