Important Park News


Point No Point Lighthouse

  • Tours of the historic duplex at Pont No Point Lighthouse and Park are 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm on Saturdays, April through September.  Docents will be on hand at the lighthouse to share information and history with visitors as well.  Lighthouse hours are 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm on weekends, April through September.

Guillemot Cove

  • Meet Grindelia and a few friends for the Guillemot Cove Estuary Walk on Saturday, August 23rd from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.

View Point Park

  • Effective Immediately: Due to budget restraints and reduced staffing levels, View Point Park in Bremerton will be closed until further notice.

All Athletic Fields

  • Please Note: No pets, bicycles, skateboards, roller blades, skates or private vehicles are allowed on any County Athletic Field at any time.

Swimming at a County Lake Park

  • Beach and lake advisories and closures are regulated by the Kitsap County Health District.  For more information, visit the Kitsap Health District website.
     

  • Please be advised: there are No Lifeguards on Duty at any County swimming area.  Please plan accordingly for a fun and safe visit.

South Kitsap Regional Park

  • Effective July 1, 2008: all ball fields at South Kitsap Regional Park will be closed through September 8, 2008 for renovation and weed control.

Horseshoe Lake County Park

  • Effective Immediately: access gates to Horseshoe Lake County Park will be locked each night.  Any vehicles left in the park will not be accessible until the gates are re-open during open park hours.

Kitsap Kids Playground

  • Effective Immediately: the restroom at the Kitsap Kids Playground, located at the Fairgrounds and Events Center, will be closed indefinitely due to repeated vandalism.  A sani-can is located near the playground.

J.A. & Anna F. Smith Park

  • Effective immediately - Due to erosion that has exposed dangerous and potentially harmful risks to the public, the beach area that is accessible from this park will be closed until further notice.

Salsbury Point Park

  • The Boat Dock has been installed for the summer season and will be removed for the winter season on October 20, 2008 (weather permitting).

Park Restrooms

  • All park restrooms are closed annually for the winter season from October 1st to March 31st.  Please plan accordingly when planning to visit a Kitsap County Park during the winter season.

Many Kitsap County Parks are inhabited by native wildlife.  Plan ahead for your visit by gathering information from the links below on how to handle possible wildlife encounters:

  • Bear or Cougar sighting - Immediately contact the Washington State Patrol at 360.478.4646 or call 9-1-1

  • Cougars - For information to plan for possible cougar encounters, contact the Washington State Department of Fish & Wildlife at http://wdfw.wa.gov/ or 360.902.2515

  • Bears - For information to plan for possible bear encounters, contact Center for Wildlife Information at www.BeBearAware.org

  • Poaching Hotline - To report illegal poaching of area wildlife, contact the Washington State Department of Fish & Wildlife Poaching Hotline at 1.800.477.6224
