FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

RCW 13.16.085 and RCW 13.40.145 state parents are responsible for fees incurred by their child. Failure to pay this obligation could result in a judgment being entered against you and your obligation may be referred to a collection agency.

Detention Fees:

$50 per night as assigned in the Order of Disposition

Maximum of $1,000 for 30 consecutive days

Work Crew Fees:

$10 per day as assigned in the Order of Disposition

Electronic Monitoring:

$15 per day as assigned in the Order of Disposition

Attorney Fees:

$306 Felony Charges

$204 Misdemeanor Charges (January-February 2008)

$225 Misdemeanor Charges (Mach 2008)

Probation Violations:

Parents will not be billed for detention days as a result of probation violations

Monthly payments will be accepted /call 337-5412 to make arrangements

Payments can be made one of four ways:

In person: 614 Division St, Port Orchard (Courthouse) – Cash or Money Order Only

Mail: Send money order to Kitsap County Clerks Office, 614 Division Street, M/S 34, Port Orchard, WA 98366.

Credit Card: 1-800-272-9829 - Select #3 (Property tax & all other payments); Enter Jurisdiction Code 5624 - Superior Court Costs and Fees; Press #1 – Court Costs & Fees; Enter case number; Re: Birthdate (00/00/0000), Enter the card-holders dob if you are paying on detention fees, work crew fees, etc OR Enter your child’s dob if you are paying fees owed by your child (i.e. restitution, crime victims compensation fund); Enter your 10 digit telephone number; Enter the payment amount; Enter the credit card number.

Inability to Meet Financial Obligation? Call 337-5412 and request a financial statement for consideration of the Judge to waive fees (based on 2007 Poverty Guidelines). If the Judge denies your request, you may call 337-5412 and request a financial hearing.

Re Medical Issues: The cost of medical and/or dental care, including emergency medical care and prescriptions obtained while a juvenile is detained shall, if billed to the department, will be re-billed to the parent or guardian or other person legally responsible for the care of the juvenile.
