Charlotte Garrido, District 2
January 2009-December 2012

"I believe people have the power to make a difference. Our future depends on a strong economy, a healthy environment and local people working together. As your County Commissioner these are my priorities—for a Kitsap County we can be proud of!"

Full Biography

I will continue asking tough questions and taking decisive action to make Kitsap a county that we can be proud to hand to our children and grandchildren; to make it a place where our kids can live, work, and raise a family.

Together we will make a difference in 2009.  As your Kitsap County Commissioner, I will work to strengthen our economy, represent the issues that matter to South Kitsap, and steward public dollars responsibly.

My priorities as a Kitsap County Commissioner, are:

  • Fostering the development and success of locally owned businesses, which are the engine of any strong economy. Whether it’s expanding Kitsap Farmers’ Market to serve more communities, showcasing entrepreneurs, or working with County government to ensure that we are buying our supplies and services locally, I want to make sure Kitsap businesses are as strong as they can be, and that Kitsap has jobs and opportunities for all.

Read Charlotte's Principles for working with local business.

  • Increasing your opportunity to be heard by your county elected-officials. As a Commissioner, I helped ensure that county meetings were televised for the first time, but that isn’t enough.  I commit to holding monthly forums throughout the County, to allow citizens to speak with me directly about the issues you care about, like stewarding your tax dollars, ferry service, and community pride.  I will protect your right to participate in government decisions that affect you!

  • Carrying out the Kitsap County government mission. As a commissioner, I helped create the mission “to protect and promote the safety, health and welfare of our citizens in an efficient, accessible, and effective manner. I am committed to making the vision a reality by establishing goals for all five measures -- for safe and healthy communities, protected natural resources, thriving local economy, inclusive government, and effective county services.
