Patty Lent
Kitsap County Commissioner, District 3

January 2003 - December 2006

Patty Lent was sworn in as District #3 County Commissioner on December 30, 2002. Patty is the Western Region immediate past president of the Washington State Association of Counties (WSAC). She is chair of the Puget Sound Regional Council GMA Policy Board, chair of the Kitsap County Consolidated Housing Authority, chair of the Department of Emergency Management, and vice chair of Washington State County Road Administration Board. In January 2006, Governor Gregoire appointed Patty to the statewide Puget Sound Partnership Committee. Patty works to control government spending, especially with departmental accountability, provide affordable housing, protect individual rights, and preserve natural resources. Patty is committed to putting discussion before decision to ensure every voice is heard.

Patty has a broad business background, specializing in corporate travel and convention sales through ownership of travel agencies in Seattle and Fife. After moving to Kitsap County, she became an independent consultant and contractor. Her prior business experience includes a certified mortgage banker, a director of sales for Holiday Inn corporation, and a national public relations spokesperson for Western Airlines (now Delta Airlines). She instructed a credited course for 3 years at Edmonds Community College and has served as a national travel industry lobbyist.

In Kitsap County for the last 18 years, Patty consistently finds time to participate in civic organizations. Patty is a member of the Bremerton Central Lions Club, was voted Lion of the Year in 2001-2002, and in 1988 was honored as the first female Kiwanis Club president in the United States. She is past president of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Zumwalt Guild, and a lifetime member of the Bremerton-Olympic Peninsula council of the Navy League of the United States. She serves as an advisor to the National Program of High School Business Education, Olympic College President's Advisory Committee, West Sound American Red Cross Advisory Council, and Advisory Board to Leadership Kitsap.

Patty and her husband, Doug Lent, have a family of five children and eight grandchildren. Doug is a third generation business leader in Kitsap County and Patty is a native of Tacoma, WA.
